Animal Rights in Europe: A Personal Historical Voyage
Why did it take a concept like animal rights thousands of years to be taken seriously in Europe? The answer lies, I believe, in the history of the continent, which has been deeply influenced by Christianity – an anthropocentric religion, a religion that dominated European minds for the last 2 millennia. With the help of science, we discovered humankind is not at the center of the Universe, but just part of a complex web of existence called Life.
